Twilite Prairieblues False Indigo
This striking Baptisia was developed by Jim Ault of the Chicago Botanic Gardens. Twilite Prairieblues False Indigo is a vigorous, bicolor baptisia. It features attractive, blue green foliage. Rich, violet purple flowers with lemon-yellow keels cover the foliage in late Spring to early Summer. Mature, 3 year old plants will produce nearly a hundred flowering stems. Charcoal, black seed pods provide great Fall interest. This hardy perennial, with its long lasting blooms, will make a great choice for your sunny garden spot and a lovely backdrop for other perennials. Great for cut flowers. Use dried seed pods for unique interest in dried flower arrangements.
Baptisia × variicolor ‘Twilite’ grows best in Full to Part Sun. It will grow 3-5′ tall with a spread of 4-5′. Plant in zones 4 to 8. Twilite Prairieblues is a hybrid cross between blue-flowered Baptisia australis and yellow-flowered Baptisia sphaerocarpa. Deer resistant. Attracts butterflies.
