Tom Thumb Cotoneaster

General Information

Tom Thumb Cotoneaster is a deciduous shrub. In some areas, it may be semi-evergreen. This is a shorter shrub, growing upwards of 2 feet tall. It grows in a dense and generally spreading overall fashion. The leaves of the shrub are quite small, with a very nice glossy appearance. They are deep green in color throughout the growing season. In the fall, they are a very attractive burgundy-red. Tom Thumb Cotoneaster has infrequent pinkish-white springtime flowers. These flowers are followed by small, bright red fruits.

Cotoneaster apiculatus ‘Tom Thumb’ reaches a height of 18 to 24 inches, with a spread of 4 to 5 feet. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 7. Tom Thumb tends to grow best in full sunlight conditions. It does well with average amounts of moisture in a variety of soils. It is tolerant of urban conditions and road salt.
