Description

Taunton Spreading Yew

General Information

Taunton Yew grows moderately fast, and has lovely spreading form.  Its upright, arching branches of dark green needles show just a hint of gold.  It shows good resistance to winter burn and damage from summer heat. Much more tolerant of extreme weather than other yews.  The finely textured foliage of this multi-stemmed shrub makes a great choice for a specimen or accent plant.  Great planted in mass for a hedge.  Red berries provide extra interest.  Attractive in a woodland garden. Use as a foundation planting for good year round interest.

Additional Information

Taxus x media ‘Tauntoni’ grows in Full to Part Sun.  Foliage will stay darker if planted in shade.  It will grow 3-4′ tall with a spread of 5-6′.  Plant in zones 4 to 8. All parts of this plant are POISONOUS if ingested!  Keep away from children and pets. Tolerates air pollution.

Care & Shipping Notes

Easy to grow in average to moist, well drained soil. Tolerates a variety of soils. Good drainage is important and will help prevent root rot.  Great low maintenance shrub.  Water and fertilize regularly for best result.  Can be pruned in late spring to maintain desired shape, however its natural growth pattern is attractive. No serious insect or disease problems. Mulch to protect the roots during cold winter months. NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE IN THESE US STATES AND TERRITORIES: AK, HI, GM, PR, VI. Also, WE NO LONGER SHIP TO CALIFORNIA due to Department of Ag restrictions on live plants.
