Neon Flash Spirea
Neon Flash Spirea is a fast-growing, small ornamental shrub. It is all about color, even beyond it’s pink flowers. Similar to Anthony Waterer, ‘Neon Flash’ has vivid red neon-colored flowers. This cultivar was discovered in the wild in Japan. The flowers will continue to delight with their brilliance into early summer, attracting a variety of butterflies to your yard! The leaves become fully green in the summer months, but then again provide a show of color in the fall with a deep burgundy. Makes a beautiful cut flower!
Neon Flash Spirea will bloom again if you lightly trim after the initial blooming. Your plant will mature to 3 ft. with a spread of about the same. As a stand alone plant, neon flash should be pruned as a globe. When planted in rows, this plant can be shaped as a hedge. Trim early in the spring. Shape again after the first bloom. Fertilize in the fall. Deer resistant and attracts butterflies.
