Solar Flare False Indigo
Solar Flare False Indigo is a vigorous plant with blue-green foliage. It becomes shrub like as it matures. A mature plant may have 100 or more flowering stems. The lemony yellow, pea like blossoms bloom in late spring to early summer and take on a rusty orange blush as they mature. 12-18″ spikes of flowers top this gorgeous bicolor plant. Cut the flower stems for your floral arrangements. Can be dried for longer use. Black seed pods provide good winter interest. Solar Flares is slow growing and is difficult to move once it becomes established. Plant as a backdrop for your perennial garden. Use as a specimen plant or plant in mass for an excellent border.
Baptisia ‘Solar Flare’ prairieblues grows best in Full to Part Sun. It will grow 30-36″ tall with a similar spread. Plant in zones 3 to 9. Parts of this plant are poisonous if ingested. Deer resistant. Attracts bees, birds and butterflies. Humidity tolerant. Tolerates salt and poor soil. Great low maintenance plant. Some drought tolerance once established.

Easy to grow in average, well drained soil. Cut back in winter. No serious insect or disease problems. Somewhat susceptible to powdery mildew, leaf spot and rust.
