General Information
An absolutely outstanding example of the asclepias family of milkweeds, the Showy Milkweed comes by its name honestly, putting on an amazing show when it blooms with beautiful pink globes of star-shaped flowers in the spring! You will be delighted with the show and the Monarch butterfly will love laying its eggs in the foilage. Milkweed plants are the only host plants for the Monarch butterfly.
Additional Information
Showy Milkweed is easily grown; give it a sunny spot in even the poorest soil and it will thrive. Stems get as tall as 40″ when mature with large oval green leaves. It spreads by rhizomes and will develop into a nice large clump in just a few years. Hardy in USDA planting zones 2-9.
