Shenandoah Switchgrass

General Information

Shenandoah Switchgrass is an ornamental perennial grass.  Perfect as a border plant or in a variety of landscaping areas.  It is a compact, narrow and upright grass with a number of good qualities.  The foliage emerges in the spring bluish-green, with red tips, keeping a nice appearance through the summer.  In the late summer, into the fall it has very nice burgundy-red color.  Open, airy clusters of flowers appear in the summer and are reddish to pink in color.  Seeds following the flowers can be an attractive winter food source for birds.
