Description

Scandia Juniper

General Information

Scandia Juniper is a dwarf, low spreading juniper with soft, feathery, light gray-green foliage. Its dense, graceful branches stay brighter green in Full Sun. This female cultivar produces berry like cones that turn dark blue as they mature.  Good winter interest.  Great choice for ground cover in rock gardens. Excellent choice for controlling erosion on slopes or ditches.

Additional Information

Juniperus sabina ‘Scandia’ grows best in Full to Part Sun.  It will grow 12-18″ tall with a spread of 6-8′.  Plant in zones 3 to 8. Deer and rabbit tolerant.  Drought tolerant once established.  Tolerates air pollution. Will grow well in shallow, rocky soil. Works well in colder areas.

Care & Shipping Notes

Easy to grow in average, well drained soil.  It will tolerate a variety of soils as long as there is good drainage. No serious insect or disease problems.  Tip and needle blight, cedar-apple rust, canker and root rot may be problems.  Scandia shows good resistance to juniper blight.  Well drained soil will help to prevent root rot.  Can be pruned in late winter after the threat of severe cold has passed.  Mulch around the shrub to help control weeds.  NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE IN THESE US STATES AND TERRITORIES: AK, HI, GM, PR, VI.   Due to Department of Agriculture regulations, we cannot send plants to California.
