Ruby Falls Redbud
Ruby Falls Redbud is a great tree with a good deal of ornamental qualities. This is a weeping redbud, with arching branches reaching towards the ground. It is perfect for smaller spaces, growing 6 feet tall and 5 feet wide. In the springtime, beautiful clusters of small flowers appear on the branches. The flowers have a great lavender-red color. The leaves are heart-shaped, with smooth edges. The small semi-glossy leaves have a deep green color, and are tinted purple. They can develop nice yellow fall color.
Cercis canadensis ‘Ruby Falls’ grows to a height of 6 to 8 feet, with a spread of 5 to 6 feet. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 5 to 9. It tends to grow best in full to partial sunlight. Ruby Falls Redbud grows best in loamy, well drained soils with moderate amounts of moisture.
