General Information

Robust Male Fern is a perennial plant. It will have a vigorous growth habit and overall upright form. This fern is native to woodlands of the western United States. The Robust Male Fern will have long fronds of bright green foliage. It can retain its leaves in more temperate climates, but will perform as more of a perennial in cooler spots. Beautiful choice for a variety of shaded or woodland gardening spaces.

Additional Information

Dryopteris filix-mas ‘Robusta’ will be 3 to 4 feet tall, with a width of 24 to 30 inches. Robust Male Fern is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 8. It will tend to perform best in full shade conditions. This fern does prefer moderate amounts of moisture in well draining soils.
