General Information
Red Riding Hood Beardtongue is a delightful perennial plant. It work well in a perennial beds, borders, rock gardens and many other landscaping areas. It is of moderate size, growing approximately two feet tall and wide. The plant forms as a low clump of foliage, with flower stems rising above. The foliage is deep green in color, with a nice glossy appearance. The flowers bloom in abundance on the tall stems. The flowers are tubular in shape and a beautiful bright red in color. The flowers bloom from early summer, into the fall. They are very attractive to hummingbirds. Great for cut flower arrangements!

Penstemon schmidel ‘Red Riding Hood’ grows to a height of 24 to 30 inches, with a spread of 18 to 24 inches. It is recommended for USDA planting zones 5 to 9. It can grow in full to partial sunlight. Red Riding Hood grows well with average to minimal amounts of water in well drained soils.
