In spring, fragrant pink flowers adorn the Purpleleaf Sandcherry. This hardy shrub grows in an upright, oval form. Its foliage is rich, purple red. It is grown from cuttings, eliminating troublesome suckers. Small, purple black fruits follow the flowers and ripen mid summer. The birds love these tasty treats! The colorful foliage makes a beautiful, showy specimen or accent shrub. Great for borders, foundation plantings, screens and hedges.
Prunus cistena grows best in Full Sun. It will grow 6-8′ tall with a similar spread. Plant in zones 3 to 8. Attracts butterflies.
