General Information
Prairie Princess Ironweed is a perennial plant. This plant will have a more compact, full habit than the typical ironweed. The leaves are narrow in form, growing densely on the plant. They are dark green in color, with some silvery overtones. This will provide the plant with an attractive appearance through the growing seasons. Prairie Princess Ironweed will have beautiful purple flowers. They will be borne in abundant clusters from late summer into the early fall. The flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies!

Vernonia ‘Prairie Princess’ will be 26 to 30 inches tall, with a width of 30 to 36 inches. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 9. Prairie Princess Ironweed will tend to grow best in full sunlight growing conditions. It will grow with average to lower amounts of moisture in a variety of soils conditions.
