General Information
Plum Fantasy Hibiscus is a great shrub that would do well in many different areas of your landscape. It forms as an upright mound of foliage and beautiful flowers. The leaves are maple-like, with three lobes. They are dark green in color, taking on a purplish tint late in the growing season. The flowers are very large, up to 9 inches wide. They are a bright magenta-red, with a deep red center eye and red stamens extending from the center. The petals have a crinkled appearance. These flowers begin to appear in midsummer, continuing into the fall.

Hibiscus ‘Plum Fantasy’ grows to a height of 4 to 6 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for climate zones 4 to 9. It grows best in full sun. Plum Fantasy does best in well drained soils, with consistently moderate amounts of moisture. This hibiscus will die back to the ground after frost, and will begin to emerge from dormancy somewhat later than other plants. It is a good idea to provide some winter mulch protection around the root zone.
