General Information
Petit Bleu Caryopteris is a great plant that will fit well into many different areas of your landscape. It is commonly used in borders and beds, but could be planted in containers as well. It is a very small plant, growing in a low, compact fashion. It has different points of interest that lend itself to this plants’ overall quality. The shrub has an overall full look, with small oval to elliptical foliage. The foliage has a nice green color throughout the growing season with glossy appearance. It emits a nice fragrance when touched or moved in some fashion. The flowers individually are very small, growing in clusters toward the end of the branch. They have a good dark blue color. These flowers appear in July and last into September, providing a great splash of late summer color.

Caryopteris × clandonensis ‘Minibleu’ grows to a height of 24 to 30 inches, with a similar spread. It is recommended for climate zones 5 to 9. It grows best in full sunlight. Petit Bleu likes to grow in well drained soils with moderate to average amounts of moisture. It can withstand some level of drought conditions. It is intolerant of poorly drained soils or standing water. This plant will often die back to the ground in colder areas, and even in warmer zones it can be trimmed all the way back down. It does not seem to have any major disease or insect issues.
