Pennsylvania Sedge
General Information
Pennsylvania Sedge is perennial grass. It is smaller in size, typically reaching 8 inches tall. It forms as a loose clump of foliage. This grass is ideal for shady areas or in a naturalized landscaping area. This sedge has the additional benefit of growing quite well in drier areas. The foliage is fairly narrow and grass-like in overall appearance. The arching leaves are medium green in color. Stems with small flowers grow above the foliage in the late spring.
Additional Information
Carex pensylvanica reaches a height of 6 to 12 inches, with a generally similar spread. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 8. Pennsylvania Sedge typically grows best in partial shade conditions. It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
