Painted Lady Double Play Spirea

General Information

Painted Lady Double Play Spirea is a great shrub that would do well in different areas of your landscape.  This is a shrub of smaller size, growing to 3 feet tall and wide, but has a great deal of ornamental value.  In the late spring to early summer, flowers bloom in abundance.  The individual flowers are quite small, but grow in large clusters.  They bloom in a beautiful hot pink.  The leaves provide season long ornamental value.  The leaves are small and oval shaped, growing densely on the stems.  The leaves are variegated, in colors of green, yellow and cream.  They hold the variegation all through the growing season.

Additional Information

Spiraea japonica ‘Minspi’ grows to a height of 2 to 3 feet, with a similar spread.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 9.  It can grow in full to partial sunlight.  Painted Lady grows best in well drained soils, with adequate amounts of moisture.  It is adaptable to a wide variety of soils, and once established has a good deal of drought tolerance.
