Ogon Spirea
General Information
Ogon Spirea is a deciduous shrub. It is moderate in size, reaching 5 feet in height. It forms as a densely growing, mounded overall shrub. Ogon has good ornamental appeal, making it great for a variety of landscaping areas. The leaves are narrow, reminiscent of willow leaves in overall appearance. They emerge in the spring golden yellow in color, maturing to green. In the fall, they take on an orangish tint. It blooms earlier in the spring. The clusters of flowers are bright white in color. The flowers are attractive to butterflies.
Additional Information
Spiraea thunbergii ‘Ogon’ grows to a height of 3 to 5 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 8. Ogon tends to do best in full sunlight. It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils. It is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues.
