Northstar Cherry Tree

General Information

The Northstar Cherry is a naturally dwarf tree. It is famous for its unmatched beauty with showy, white, fragrant, spring flowers.  The Northstar is sought after for its delicious, juicy cherries! The fruits have dark red skin and flesh. These plump, tart cherries are considered ideal for baking, but are delicious eaten fresh off of the tree as well. Fruit ripens in late June to late July. It is self-pollinating. This is a great tree for U-pick patches and small spaces.

Additional Information

Prunus cerasus ‘Northstar’ grows best in Full Sun. It will grow 8 to 10 feet tall with a spread of 4 to 6 feet. Plant in zones 4 to 8. Very hardy. Attracts butterflies.

Care & Shipping Notes

Grow in average, well drained soil. Good disease resistance. Leaf spot, canker, gall, brown rot, leaf curl, leaf scorch, powdery mildew, root rot and scab may be potential problems. Fruit flies, aphids and scale may be pests. Netting can be used during fruiting to protect the fruit from birds. Late frosts may damage fruit production.
