Missouri Primrose- Native

General Information

Missouri Primrose is a native perennial plant.  It is native to the central and southern United States.  Perfect in borders, flower beds or in a range of native plant areas.  Short, slightly spreading clump of foliage, with beautiful flowers.  The leaves are longer and narrow.  They have a slightly glossy finish generally and are dark green in color.  The flowers are large, at up to five inches across.  They are short-lived, with a long bloom season from late spring into the summer.  Very nice bright yellow color, with a light fragrance. 

Additional Information

Oenothera macrocarpa grows to a height of 10 to 12 inches, with a spread of 18 to 24 inches.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 7.  Missouri Primrose tends to do best in full sunlight.  It does well in low to average moisture conditions in well drained soils.
