Description
Minerva Rose of Sharon
General Information
Minerva Rose of Sharon is a very ornamental shrub for your landscape! It grows in an upright, vase shaped, multi-stemmed fashion. Minerva is said to be sterile, keeping there from being any volunteer plants elsewhere in the landscape. The foliage is slightly glossy and is medium green in color all through the growing season. The flowers are 4 to 5 inches in diameter, blooming in abundance from mid summer into the fall. They are lavender-pink in color with a dark red center eye. Very attractive to butterflies!
Additional Information
Hibiscus syriacus ‘Minerva’ grows to a height of 5 to 8 feet, with a spread of 4 to 7 feet. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 5 to 8. It is said to grow best in full sunlight. Minerva Rose of Sharon does well with moderate amounts of moisture in well drained soils. It is not know to have any serious disease or insect issues.
