Description

Lemon Yellow Sombrero Coneflower

General Information

Lemon Yellow Sombrero Coneflower is a very nice perennial plant.  It works well in flower beds, borders and many other locations.  These flowers are great for attracting butterflies and other pollinators.  The foliage is a nice grey-green color, providing a backdrop for the flowers above.  The flowers have a daisy-like appearance, with narrow oval shaped petals.  These petals are bright yellow in color.  The flowers begin to bloom mid-summer, continuing until frost.  The center cone is orange to black in color.  If these flowers are left standing after frost, these seed cones can provide a food source for finches and small birds in the winter.

Additional Information

Echinacea x ‘Balsomemy’ grows to a height of 24 to 28 inches, with a spread of 16 to 24 inches.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 9.  It grows best in full sunlight.  Lemon Yellow does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.  It is adaptable to a variety of soils, and is an all around easy care plant.
