Description

Lady Betty Balfour Clematis

General Information

Lady Betty Balfour Clematis is a delightful perennial vine.  Being a climbing plant, it requires an arbor, pergola or support of some nature.  There are different types of clematis, some that bloom on old growth, old and new growth and some just on new growth.  This is the third type of clematis, with the flowers growing on new growth.  Typically, these plants should be trimmed back to about 9 inches or so above the ground in late winter.  The flowers for this plant grow to 6 to 8 inches in diameter.  They have very nice bluish-purple flowers.  These typically begin to bloom midsummer, continuing into the fall.

Additional Information

Clematis ‘Lady Betty Balfour’ grows to a height of 8 to 12 feet.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 8.  It tends to grow best in full to partial sunlight.  Lady Betty Balfour does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
