Indian Pink – Native

General Information

Indian Pink is a native perennial plant. It is of moderate size, growing 18 inches tall and wide. It forms as a nice clump of foliage, with flowers held above. Indian Pink will provide a nice burst of color to shaded areas of your landscape. The leaves are ovate in shape, with a glossy appearance. They will be deep green in color through the spring and summer months. Abundant flower clusters, typically in June. The small, 2 inch long, flowers are narrowly trumpet shaped. They have bright red outer petals, with yellow inner petals. The flowers are very attractive to hummingbirds!

Additional Information

Spigelia marilandica will be 12 to 24 inches tall, with a spread of 12 to 18 inches. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 5 to 9. Indian Pink will do well in full to partial shade conditions. It will do well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
