Husker Red Beardtongue

General Information

Husker Red Beardtongue is a flowering perennial plant. It will be a taller plant, reaching up to three feet tall. The plant will form as a nice mound of foliage, with flowers held on stems above. Husker Red Beardtongue would be a great choice for a variety of landscaping areas. The leaves will emerge a very attractive maroon, before maturing to dark green in color. The flowers bloom in abundance from mid spring into the early summer. They are tubular in shape, white in color, occasionally with a light pink tint. The flowers of the Husker Red Beardtongue are great for attracting butterflies!

Additional Information

Penstemon digitalis ‘Husker Red’ will be 2 to 3 feet tall, with a spread of 18 to 24 inches. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 8. Husker Red Beardtongue tends to do best when planted in full sunlight conditions. It will do well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils. Once established, the plant has good drought tolerance.
