In very rare occasions, this plant can have small purple flowers growing on stems. The foliage of this plant is quite unique. It is a very velvety texture, very reminiscent of a ‘Lambs Ear’. The thick, soft leaves have an oval shape with serrated edges. They have a great dark green, silvery color.
Stachys byzantina ‘Helen Von Stein’ grows to a height of 6 to 12 inches, with a spread of 12 to 24 inches. It is recommended for climate zones 4 to 9. It grows best in full sunlight. Helen Von Stein grows well in well drained soils with average moisture amounts. In humid climates, this plant can develop some leaf rot issues.
