Heartland Catalpa

General Information

Heartland Catalpa is a great tree that is a perfect choice for many areas in your landscape.  This is a moderately tall tree, growing up to 60 feet tall.  It has an overall narrow form, with an ascending branching habit.  This makes this tree perfect for a moderate sized yard or for plantings along streets.  In the late spring to early summer, clusters of white flowers, speckled with yellow and purple, form in abundance on the tree.  The leaves are larger in size, with a dark green color in the growing season and yellow-green colors in the fall.

Additional Information

Catalpa speciosa ‘Hiawatha 2’ grows to a height of 40 to 60 feet, with a spread of 20 to 40 feet.  It is recommended for climate zones 4 to 8.  It can grow well in full to partial sunlight.  It grows best in fertile soils with average amounts of moisture.  It is however, a tough native tree that is capable of handling heat and drought conditions.  It is a great tree for urban areas.
