Guacamole Hosta

General Information

The fast growing Guacamole Hosta has unique coloring with its avocado green leaves and darker green margins. The center of the leaves turn golden in the summer sunlight. In mid-summer, tall spikes of fragrant, lily white flowers rise above the large clumps of attractive foliage.  Guacamole is a sport of ’Fragrant Bouquet’.  Use in woodland gardens and as ground cover around the base of large trees.  Excellent planted in mass as a border.

Additional Information

Hosta ‘Guacamole’ grows best in Part Shade. The Guacamole has good sun tolerance. It will grow 22-24″ tall with a spread of 32-38″.  Plant in zones 3 to 9. Deer may be pests. 2002 Hosta of the Year. Air pollution tolerant. Attracts hummingbirds. Great low maintenance plant!

Care & Shipping Notes

Easy to grow in average, well drained soil.  Prefers moist, fertile soil. No serious insect or disease problems.  Slugs and snails may cause damage. Apply slug bait in early spring. Leaf spots and crown rot may occur if grown in too wet of conditions. Remove dead foliage in late fall or early spring.  Can be divided every 3 to 4 years. Mulch to prevent winter heaving.
