Green Sargent Juniper
General Information
Green Sargent Juniper is an evergreen shrub. It is a shorter shrub, with a spreading overall growth habit. This is ideal as a groundcover shrub for a variety of landscaping areas. The foliage is ‘scale’ like when mature and in needle form when first emerging. The foliage is grey-green to deeper green in color. The female plants of this juniper variety will develop waxy blue berries. This shrub is great for erosion control, and is a great fast growing, low maintenance evergreen.
Additional Information
Juniperus chinensis sargentii ‘Viridis’ grows to a height of 18 to 24 inches, with a spread of 6 to 8 feet. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 5 to 8. Green Sargent tends to do best in full sunlight. It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils. Once established, it is said to have good drought tolerance. It is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues.
