Green Giant Arborvitae

General Information

Green Giant Arborvitae is a vigorous, fast growing evergreen that is wonderful for a high screen or windbreak.  The bright, green scale like leaves darken during the winter. The foliage grows in flattened sprays that are larger than the American or Oriental arborvitae. Dense, narrow, pyramidal habit.  Small, light brown seed cones grow upright.  It is a hybrid cultivar of (T. plicata x T. standishii) . Wonderful as a specimen.  Plant in mass as a background for your yard.  Use as a hedge or foundation planting. Retains good foliage color throughout the winter. Wonderful, low maintenance evergreen.

Additional Information

Thuja (standishii x plicata) ‘Green Giant’ should be planted in Full Sun.  It will grow 45 to 60 feet tall with a spread of 15 to 20 feet.  Plant in zones 5 to 7.  Cold hardy and withstands heavy loads of ice and snow.

Care & Shipping Notes

Plant in moist, fertile, well-drained soil.  Tolerates a wide variety of soils, including dry. No serious insect or disease problems.  Bagworms, root rot and scale may be occasional problems. Good drainage will help eliminate root rot. Can be pruned to promote more compact growth. NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE IN THESE US STATES AND TERRITORIES: AK, HI, GM, PR, VI.
