Description
Gracillimus Maiden Grass
General Information
Narrow, green foliage grows in a graceful, upright mound. This is one of the most popular Miscanthus available. It forms a tight clump, and will expand slowly through rhizomes. Great accent or specimen plant for areas where there is plenty of room to grow. Gracillimus maintains good interest summer through winter. In late fall, coppery pink plumes rise above the green foliage. If the season is too cool, it will not produce plumes. The graceful arching foliage begins to turn yellow after the first frost. This tan-yellow dry foliage provides good winter interest. Use in cut or dried flower arrangements. Maiden Gracillimus becomes less vigorous if planted in too much shade. Too much shade may cause it to flop, and require staking. Great choice for a border, meadow garden, or naturalized area. Plant along slopes or ditches to help control erosion.
