Fire Island Hosta

General Information

Fire Island Hosta is a perennial plant. This is a densely growing plant, with an initial upright growth habit, broader by the end of the season. The leaves will emerge in the spring bright yellow in color, maturing to chartreuse. The stems of the Fire Island Hosta are deep red, with the color extended into the base of the leaf. There will be lavender colored flowers in the summertime. They be attractive to hummingbirds. Fire Island Hosta will provide a nice, ornamental burst of color to shaded areas of your landscape.

Additional Information

Hosta ‘Fire Island’ will be 10 to 14 inches tall, with a width of 15 to 30 inches. The flower stems will be 18 to 20 inches tall. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 9. Fire Island Hosta will grow well in part to full shade conditions. It will do well with average amounts of moisture in well draining soils.
