Description

Elijah Blue Fescue Grass

General Information

Elijah Blue’ features silvery blue, finely textured foliage.  This clump forming, ornamental grass grows with needle like spikes that grow out from the mounded center like quills from a porcupine’s back.  Panicles of light green flowers rise above the foliage in mid summer. The purple tinged flowers are not showy. Some gardeners prefer to cut back the flower heads.  Elijah Blue is a low growing, short lived grass.  It is one of the best fescues. Great choice for areas with shallow, rocky soil.  Plant on slopes or hillsides to help prevent erosion. Great ground cover.  Plant in mass or as an accent plant.
