Dwarf Fothergilla

General Information

Dwarf Fothergilla is an ornamental deciduous shrub.  It is smaller in size, making it ideal for a variety of landscaping areas.  It grows in an overall compact and rounded habit.  The flowers are smaller in size, up to 2 inches long, but bloom in abundance.  They typically bloom in the mid spring time.  They bottlebrush shaped and white in color, with a nice fragrance.  The leaves of the Dwarf Fothergilla are bluish-green in color throughout the growing season.  The leaves are very ornamental in the fall, yellow, orange and red in color. 

Additional Information

Fothergilla gardenii grows to a height of 2 to 3 feet, with a similar spread.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 5 to 8.  The Dwarf Fothergilla can grow in full to partial sunlight.  It does well with average to moderate amounts of moisture in well drained soils.  This shrub is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues.
