Description

Densiformis Yew

General Information

Densiformis Yew is a delightful shrub that would look great in your landscape.  It is moderate in size, growing to 4 feet tall and 6 feet wide.  It is perfect for a lower hedge and it tolerates shearing quite well.  Instead of the cones found on many evergreen shrubs and trees, this yew produces a very attractive small red berry like cone.  As the name might suggest, the foliage grows in a very dense fashion.  The evergreen needles are short, with a very nice darker green color. Note: All parts of this plant are poisonous to humans.

Additional Information

Taxus × media ‘Densiformis’ grows to a height of 3 to 4 feet, with a spread of 4 to 6 feet.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 7.  It grows well in full to partial sun.  Densiformis does best in well drained soils with average amounts of moisture.  This plant is said to not have any serious disease or insect issues.
