Description

Dancing Queen Hosta

General Information

Dancing Queen Hosta is a great plant that could fit well in different areas of your landscape.  This is a moderate sized hosta, with the leaves reaching to 18 inches in height and spreading to 30 inches.  This hosta enjoys being in the shade, making it ideal to be placed in areas where the sun loving plants would not survive.  Although hostas are mostly known for their foliage, the flowers add a good deal of interest as well.  These flowers appear on stems above the foliage in the midsummer in colors of lavender-purple.  The leaves of the Dancing Queen are quite unique.  The leaves are oval to heart shaped and a ridged with a ruffled outer edge.  The foliage emerges bright yellow in the springtime, before fading to a lighter yellow during the summer months.

Additional Information

Hosta ‘Dancing Queen’ grows to a height of 16 to 18 inches, with a spread of 24 to 30 inches.  The flower stems reach to a height of 30 inches.  It is recommended for climate zones 3 to 9.  It grows best in full to partial sunlight.  Dancing Queen grows best in well drained soils with moderate amounts of moisture.  Hostas go dormant in the fall and the foliage can be sheared off at anytime before the new foliage emerges in the spring.
