Description
Crimson Sunset Maple
General Information
The Crimson Sunset Maple is a wonderful maple for hot, humid climates. The foliage of the Crimson Sunset resembles that of the ‘Crimson King’, but the form is more upright and compact. The foliage is a rich, dark, glossy purple and holds its color well throughout the summer. The leaves resist tatter and scorch damage. Its tolerance for heat is a distinguishing characteristic of this Acer truncatum hybrid. Thanks to the Acer truncatum parentage, it flourishes in the summer heat where few purple leafed plants will grow. In fall, the foliage turns maroon to reddish bronze.

Acer truncatum x Acer platanoides ‘JFS-KW202′ grows best in Full Sun. It will grow 30-35′ tall with a spread of 20-25’. Plant in zones 4 to 8. Good heat and drought resistance.
