General Information
Colby Grafted Pecan is a wonderful tree that has many benefits for your landscape. It is a tall tree possibly reaching 100 feet in height. The tree grows in an upright fashion, with a symmetrical and oval canopy. It grows full and wide as well, making it a great shade tree for the warm summer months. The leaves are large, green and have a slight shine. The pecans of this tree are sweet and heavy producing. The pecans are meaty and thin shelled. This pecan tends to ripen in late September or early October. Many different types of wildlife enjoy this tree for both the food and the cover it provides. The pecans are perfect for pies or fresh eating.

Carya illinoinensis ‘Colby’ grows to a height of 60 to 100 feet, with a spread of 40 to 75 feet. It is recommended for climate zones 5 to 9. It prefers to grow in full sunlight. Colby is adaptable to many different soil types and moisture conditions. This tree does require a pollinator to produce nuts, with Peruque being one of the best options. This tree is also great for pollinating other pecan varieties. Has all around great tolerances for drought, insects and diseases. It is quite heat tolerant as well.
