Description

Citronelle Coral Bells

General Information

Citronelle Coral Bells is a perennial plant that would fit well in different areas around your landscape.  This is a vigorous growing plant that forms a dense mound of foliage.  These leaves are slightly wavy, with lobed edges.  They have a yellow-greenish color.  The stems connecting the leaves to the stem have a nice rosy-red tint to them.  Flowers grow on stems above the foliage.  These summertime flowers are small and creamy white in color.  If spent flower stems are removed, additional bloom is possible.  Good choice for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds.

Additional Information

Huechera ‘Citronelle’ grows to a height of 6 to 12 inches, with a spread of 12 to 18 inches.  It is recommended for climate zones 4 to 8.  They tend to grow best in partial shade.  If grown in full sun, they need to be kept consistently moist, otherwise they will take damage.  Citronelle grows best in well drained soils with moderate amounts of moisture.  It is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues.  In colder weather climates, it may be a good idea to mulch around the root zone.
