Description

Chicagoland Green Boxwood

General Information

Chicagoland Green Boxwood is a great plant that is perfect for many different locations and landscape areas.  This boxwood has a good deal of cold hardiness, and among many other qualities, holds its color well in the winter.  It tends to grow in a symmetrical, well rounded shape.  It does take a bit of trimming to keep its shape, but it takes the trimming and even shearing quite well.  The Chicagoland has small green leaves in a medium green color.  The foliage covers the entirety of the plant, providing a complete full look.  The plant is a slow grower, but is wonderful as a foundation plant for many different landscape areas.

Additional Information

Buxus ‘Glencoe’  grows to a height of 3 to 4 feet, with a similar spread.  It is recommended for climate zones 4 to 9.  It likes to grow in full to partial sunlight.  Chicagoland can grow in average, well drained soil.  It needs consistent watering until it is well established, then somewhat less after that.  It does like protection from the winter winds, or it may slow the overall grow of the plant.
