Candy Crisp Apple
Candy Crisp Apple is a great apple tree for your home orchard. In addition to the fruit, this tree has good ornamental value as well. It has a rounded form with nice green leaves. In the springtime, this tree has a wonderful display of pure white flowers. The tree is a heavy bearer of large sized apples. The fruit has a golden skin, blushed with pink. It has a sweet flavor and is quite juicy. It tends to ripen in early October. With proper storage, the fruit will keep for up to four months. This tree will need a pollinating partner: Gala, Honeycrisp, Granny Smith or Enterprise are good choices. This tree is a descendant of the Red Delicious and was introduced in 2005.
Malus pumila ‘Griener 1198’ grows to a height of 12 to 15 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for climate zones 4 to 7. It grows best in full sunlight. Candy Crisp does best in well drained soils, with at least average amounts of moisture.
