Description

Butter and Sugar Iris

General Information

Butter and Sugar Iris is a delightful perennial plant.  It has a very nice appearance, great for a variety of landscaping areas. Great near water features, as they appreciate well-watered conditions.  Can be planted near Black Walnut trees, as they are not affected by them.  Forms as a nice clump of foliage with flowers carried above.  The leaves are long and narrow, with a nice medium green color throughout the growing season.  Cream-white center petals, with golden yellow petals arching downward.  The flowers bloom in the early summer, with possible rebloom later in the season.  Very attractive to bees and hummingbirds!

Additional Information

Iris sibirica ‘Butter and Sugar’ grows to a height of 24 to 28 inches, with a spread of 18 to 24 inches.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 9.  It does well in full to partial sunlight.  Butter and Sugar likes moderate amounts of moisture in well drained soils.  It is said to have a good deal of disease resistance.
