Burkwood Viburnum

General Information

Burkwood Viburnum is a deciduous shrub.  It is larger in size, growing upwards of 10 feet tall.  This is a densely growing,  multi-stemmed shrub with great ornamental appeal.  Burkwood Viburnum can retain some foliage in southern areas.  The leaves are oval in shape, with a nice glossy appearance.  They are dark green in the spring and summer months, maroon in the fall.  In the springtime, there are large, fragrant clusters of bright white flowers.  Berries form, following the flowers, maturing to black in color.  These fruits are attractive to birds.

Additional Information

Viburnum × burkwoodii grows 8 to 10 feet in height, with a spread of 6 to 7 feet.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 8.  Burkwood can grow in full to partial sunlight conditions.  It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.  It is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues.
