Description

Bristol Black Raspberry

General Information

Bristol is a hardy, high producing black raspberry. Produces firm, large, black fruit that does not ‘bleed’ easily when handled. Excellent quality and flavor of fruits.  Great for canning, freezing or eating fresh.  The glossy skinned fruit grows in clusters making it easy to pick.  Thorns are present. The fruits of this vigorous black raspberry ripen mid-summer. Although Bristol does flower, it is not especially ornamental.  It is grown for its fruit.

Additional Information

Rubus ‘Bristol’ grows best in Full Sun.  It will grow 3-4′ tall with a similar spread. Plant in zones 4 to 8. Attracts birds and butterflies.

Care & Shipping Notes

Should be grown in rich, slightly acidic soil that is moist with good drainage. Root rot can occur when roots stay wet due to improper drainage. Planting in a raised bed will help provide good drainage.  Good powdery mildew resistance.  This variety can be susceptible to different fungal infections, but can be controlled with application of fungicide.  Cane borers, crown bores and aphids may be pests.   Fruit is born on second year canes. Removes canes immediately after fruiting. Non-fruiting canes should be left.  NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE IN THESE US STATES AND TERRITORIES: AK, HI, GM, PR, VI. Also, WE NO LONGER SHIP TO CALIFORNIA due to Department of Ag restrictions on live plants.
