General Information

Brilliant Red Chokeberry is a shrub with a great deal of ornamental appeal.  Rounded overall form, growing in a somewhat more compact fashion than other red chokeberries.  Great for shrub borders, and other landscaping areas.  Nice oval shaped foliage, that is glossy and dark green in the growing season.  In the fall the foliage turns a wonderful deep red.  Abundant clusters of white flowers in the springtime.  Large, glossy red berries mature late summer.  Extremely tart if eaten fresh, but great for jams, jellies and other cooking uses. 

Additional Information

Aronia arbutifolia ‘Brilliantissima’ grows to a height of 6 to 8 feet, with a similar spread.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 9.  It can be grown in full to partial sunlight. It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.  Can adapt to a variety of conditions.  It is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues.
