Description

Green Mountain Boxwood

General Information

The Green Mountain Boxwood is a relatively fast growing, compact boxwood. It grows naturally in an upright, cone shaped form. The leaves are a small, narrow-elliptic shape. Green Mountain Boxwood’s attractive glossy, dark green foliage makes it a wonderful shrub for any landscape.  Inconspicuous, creamy flowers bloom in late spring. Green Mountain is very winter hardy and holds its dark green coloring very well. Excellent for hedges and borders. Can be used as a specimen shrub.    Use in foundation plantings.

Additional Information

Buxus ‘Green Mountain’ grows best in Full to Part Sun. It will grow 3-5′ tall with a spread of 2-3′. Plant in zones 5 to 9. Deer and rabbit resistant. Drought resistant.

Care & Shipping Notes

Plant in average, well drained soil. No serious insect or disease problems. May be susceptible to blight, leaf spot, mites, leaf miners and psyllid. Trim in early spring after the last chance of frost. If possible, plant in an area where it is protected from full winter sun and strong winds.  May bronze in harsh winter weather. Can be pruned to shape during the growing season.  Spray with Wilt-Pruf (anti-transpirant) around Thanksgiving to protect from cold dry winter winds and maintain a glossy green color.  Fertilize with Tree & Shrub Fertilizer in the fall, optional in the spring. NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE IN THESE US STATES AND TERRITORIES: AK, HI, GM, PR, VI. Also, WE NO LONGER SHIP TO CALIFORNIA due to Department of Ag restrictions on live plants.
