Bluecrop Blueberry
General Information
The most vigorous producing berry for the mid west. The light blue fruit is large and has exceptional flavor. Bluecrop ripens mid season. Bell shaped white flowers add to the ornamental interest of Bluecrop. Can be used as a hedge. Dark green leaves and stems take on a reddish hue in fall. Remove flowers during the year of planting and one year following to increase vegetation growth. Generally grown for its fruit crop.
Additional Information
Vaccinium corybosum ‘Bluecrop’ should be grown in Full Sun. It will grow 4-6′ tall with a spread of 4-5′. Plant in zones 3 to 7. Bluecrop is self-fertile, but cross pollination produces better berries. Attracts birds and butterflies.
Care & Shipping Notes
Plant in rich, acidic soil that is medium to wet with good drainage. Use organic mulch to maintain good moisture. No serious insect or disease problems. Birds enjoy the fruit. Cover with netting to protect the ripening berries. Stem blight, root rot, anthracnose, cane cankers, mildew and botrytis are occasional problems.
