Description

Blue Shadow Fothergilla

General Information

Blue Shadow Fothergilla is a deciduous shrub.  It has a good deal of ornamental appeal.  It is perfect in a shrub border or as a very ornamental hedge.  It is multi-stemmed, upright and rounded in overall form.  In the springtime, bottlebrush shaped flowers appear.  They have a wonderful fragrance and are white in color.  The leaves are green early on, changing to a very nice blue green through the spring and summer months.  In the fall the leaves turn shades of yellow, red and orange.

Additional Information

Fothergilla major ‘Blue Shadow’ grows to a height of 5 to 6 feet, with a spread of 4 to 5 feet.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 9.  Blue Shadow can be grown in full to partial sunlight.  It does well with moderate amounts of moisture in slightly acidic well drained soils.  Not know to have any serious disease or insect issues.
