Description

Blue Mammoth Hosta

General Information

Blue Mammoth Hosta is a very nice plant for shaded areas of your landscape.  This is a larger sized hosta, great for large woodland gardens or other shaded areas.  The leaves can grow upwards of 16 inches long and 12 inches wide.  The leaves are thick, and are deeply ridged.  They are deep blue-green in color.  In mid-summer, white to light lavender bell shaped flowers grow atop grey-green stems.  These stems grow nearly  4 feet tall.  These flowers can be very attractive to hummingbirds.

Additional Information

Hosta ‘Blue Mammoth’  grows to a height of 30 to 36 inches, with a spread of 42 to 48 inches.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 8.  It grows best full to partial shade.  Blue Mammoth grows well with consistent moisture in well drained soils.  They can tolerate dryer conditions once established, but still prefer moist conditions.  The plants should be checked for slugs and snails, but typically are largely pest free.
