Description

BloomStruck Hydrangea

General Information

Bloomstruck Hydrangea is a deciduous flowering shrub.  Its ornamental qualities make it perfect for shrub borders, or in a wide variety of landscaping areas.  It forms as a rounded shrub, with flowers held upright on strong stems.  The leaves are slightly glossy and dark green in color.  In the fall, they have a nice reddish-purple tint.  The flowers bloom in up to 5 inch wide rounded clusters.  They bloom beginning mid summer, continuing into the early fall.  Depending upon the soil ph, they rosy-pink or violet-blue in color.  Deep red stems give extra visual appeal.

Additional Information

Hydrangea macrophylla ‘PIIHM-II’ grows to a height of 3 to 4 feet, with a spread of 4 to 5 feet.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 9.  Bloomstruck tends to do best in partial sunlight.  It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils. Mulch in fall for additional winter protection.
